Episode 7 of INSPIRATION/INFORMATION finds Host Imran Mirza of BlueInGreen Radio in conversation with London-based, Italian-born and Denmark-raised singer-songwriter and bandleader IRENE SERRA. Irene Serra’s overall enthusiasm for music continually finds innovative new ways in which to manifest itself. Through her work alongside the vintage jazz ensemble “La Bouche Manouche,” to the even longer-standing collective of Serra’s noir-jazz meets Massive Attack quartet “ISQ,” Serra has created a multitude of musical avenues that help to celebrate the varying facets of her own musical fandom as well as to showcase her unadulterated talents as a singer and performer. Her current project alongside guitarist Luca Boscagin, sees the duo tackle ten tracks from The Great British Songbook for a selection that is lovingly handled and delivered, with the sincerity that we would have come to expect from the two boundlessly talented artists. In typical Inspiration/Information fashion, we explore our guest’s musical fandom via the traditional 3-question format and for this episode we ask Irene to (1) discuss her first musical hero, (2) cite a song she wishes she could have written, and (3) recollect the first album she remembers buying.
